Wanda What - Dyke TV
Wanda What - Dyke TV
Finally! Three treacherous years since Wanda What’s debut album Startin’ Drama, Los Angeles’ favorite lesbian is back at it again with the release of her Sophomore album, Dyke TV. Through this release, Wanda What’s natural progression of at home recording is heard, while still authentically producing that beloved bedroom pop nostalgia her earlier releases are known for. The infectiously catchy songs you know and love are revived in a fresh form, fantastically ziplocked and distributed by Seattle legends, Youth Riot Records.
Dyke TV can aptly be described as a fusion of lively and lustful lyricism, sprinkled with hints of country twang and 2010 style nostalgic indie-pop flare. Looking at songs such as “Brunch” or “100 Dollar Ticket”, Wanda What continues to sculpt songs with audaciously relatable content through ironic humor and storytelling. On the flip side, tracks such as “Bye Bye” and “Big Tree” give credit to a more truthful nature, painting portraits through poetry. Wanda What captures the essence of youthful spirit and heartfelt introspection, wrapped in a quirky package that’s as genuine as it is entertaining.
At the reins of this cheerful project is Harmony Reynolds, a Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist who has been crafting reminiscent and pure music since 2016. Throughout the album, Reynolds balances her sick obsession with a fantasy-like popstar lifestyle while providing insight into her normal and somewhat wholesome reality. She invites listeners to ponder: Would I sacrifice what I have for the spotlight, or is this life really not half bad?
Please enjoy the first single ‘Brunch’, released June 14th on all streaming platforms with a music video to accompany, with the full album to be released August 2nd, 2024. Peace & Love!
